Research field: Electronics, FPGA, detectors
Description of the research project:
Adam Gilbert obtained a PhD in Engineering from Sheffield University in 2008, specialising in Power Electronics. He joined the McGill Cosmology Instrumentation Laboratory in 2009, where he has worked on the design of low noise readout systems for detector read out. His most recent key project involved the design (schematics, circuit board layout and mechanics) of the ICE system which is used by several mm-wave radio telescopes (such as SPT3G and Polarbear), as well the CHIME radio telescope - one of the world's largest bandwidth correlators.
