Life in the Near-IR: JWST Outreach and Science
Alexandra Lockwood
STScI
How does one bridge the gap from science to outreach and back to science? By supporting the next great observatory, the James Webb Space Telescope! I will discuss my role as the Communications Lead for Webb at the Space Telescope Science Institute and how we base our outreach efforts for JWST in our science goals and messaging. I'll share a bit of my work on protoplanetary disks and direct detection of exoplanets using the Nirspec instrument at the W.M. Keck Observatory, and how I made my way into communications and outreach, and then onto another NIRSpec instrument, this one aboard JWST. There will be some fun space videos and plenty of time for questions.
