Large-deviation theory in cosmology and beyond
Sandrine Codis

In this talk, I will show recent results on the use of large deviation theory to understand cosmic structure formation and how it applies to current and upcoming galaxy surveys. This framework is particularly powerful as it provides us with predictions from first principles of the mildly non-linear regime of structure formation. However, as of now, it does not incorporate any anisotropic information. In a second part, I will hence show other mathematical tools that allow us to go beyond this limitation at least on large scales. Tidal effects will be shown to play a crucial role not only to model the cosmic web itself but also the formation and evolution of galaxies.
