XMM-Newton observations of Active Galactic Nuclei

Shruti Tripathi ( )

Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN) show rapid variability in X-rays suggesting the origin of emission from a small region close to the central supermassive black hole. It is therefore crucial to understand the character of X-ray variability of an AGN in order to extract valuable information on the physical system and also to understand the physical processes responsible for their variable nature. In this presentation I will attempt to probe the variable behaviour of AGN with the help of results derived from the analysis of XMM-Newton satellite data.
