Dwarf Galaxy ChemodynamicsDavid Williamson ( Université Laval )The Mass-Metallicity relation tells us that dwarf galaxies are metal-poor. This makes them an important target for chemodynamical simulations, to determine what causes the low metallicities - are dwarf galaxies worse at retaining metals, or worse at producing metals, or do pristine inflows reduce the metallicity? To begin to answer these questions, we must first perform a calibration of numerically modelled processes such as diffusion. Here we find the counter-intuitive result that weaker diffusion permits more metals to escape a dwarf galaxy disc. We also investigate the role of environment, by placing our dwarf galaxies within a host potential field. |
