New science with SITELLE

Laurie Rousseau-Nepton ( Université Laval )

Science verifications run of observation allowed to collect three datacubes on the well known face-on spiral NGC628, covering the spectral bands: SN1 [365 - 384 nm], SN2 [484 - 512 nm], and SN3 [648 - 685 nm]. With SITELLE, ionization structures in NGC 628 are resolved ( 25 pc) and therefore, usual diagnostic tools for emission lines are not well adapted. To constrain the physical parameters of each star-forming region (age, mass, abundances, escaping photon fraction), we use 3D photo-ionization codes. A large database tailored for SITELLE is being built to facilitate comparisons with different emission line ratios. The additional information provided by the resolved ionization structures allow to study in great details the content and the physical conditions of the HII regions and the diffuse ionized gas in the galaxy disk enabling the characterization of the ISM structures.
