Optimizing JWST Near-IR Detector Readout for Bright Objects and Transits

JWST's near-IR instruments do not currently include detector readout patterns that are fully optimized for bright objects including transiting exoplanets. We describe some of the readout options that are currently implemented, and our thoughts for new readout patterns that would be better adapted to bright targets, yet still be compatible with existing JWST hardware and software systems.
