Abstract

Testing Feedback Models with Nearby Star Forming Regions

Emile Doran (University of Sheffield)

Paul Crowther (University of Sheffield)

The feedback from massive stars play a crucial role in the evolution of galaxies. Accurate modelling of this feedback is essential in understanding distant star forming regions. Clusters such as R136 (Large Magellanic Cloud) and NGC 3603 (Milky Way) are ideal testbeds for our models. They offer a rich supply of resolved massive stars that are sufficiently young enough that no SN will have occurred and feedback sources solely from these stars. I present a quantitative comparison of empirical calibrations of radiative and mechanical feedback from individual stars, with instantaneous burst predictions from the Starburst99 code.
