Abstract

Feedback from stellar winds and supernovae in massive stellar clusters

Julian Pittard (The University of Leeds, UK)

Hazel Rogers

We investigate the effects of stellar winds from massive stars in young stellar clusters still embedded within their natal molecular cloud. 3D hydrodynamical simulations are performed in which the stellar (e.g. mass-loss rates, wind speeds, and positions of the stars are varied) and cloud (e.g. mass, radius) properties are varied. We determine the timescale for molecular material to be cleared from the volume occupied initially by the cloud, and the efficiency with which mass and energy from the stars is injected into the wider interstellar medium. We examine the multiphase nature of this outflow. We also examine the effect of a supernova explosion on this process.
