Abstract

Dense circumstellar environments and binarity

Olivier Chesneau (Observatoire de la Côte d'Azur)

Olivier Chesneau

With the advent of the VLTI and other powerful infrared interferometry facilities such as CHARA, the number of spatially resolved observations of massive stars circumstellar environments has increased dramatically. I shall illustrate various results ranging from the study of known binaries (such as Gamma Velorum) to the growing discoveries of companions near B[e] stars. The major role of the companion in the disk formation process will be extensively discussed.
