Rotation and Strong Magnetism of White Dwarfs

Focusing on solar-type stars and intermediate mass stars, we construct models of the rotational evolution and dynamo activity during the RGB and AGB. Angular momentum loss in winds, the resupply of angular momentum due to an interaction with a planet, as well as the effects of convection and large-scale poloidal magnetic fields on angular momentum transport in the star, are all taken into account. We make quantitative predictions regarding the rotational decoupling of the CO core as well as the remnant white dwarf magnetism.
