"Emission line spectropolarimetry of low-mass young stellar objects"

Low-mass young stellar objects show various optical emission lines associated with mass inflow and outflow activities within the circumstellar environment. These emission lines also possess linear polarization, which gives us unique information on geometry and kinematics of the circumstellar structure close to the central star.

We obtained high-dispersion linear polarization spectra of emission lines of a few low-mass young stellar objects (T Tauri stars). The echelle spectropolarimeter LIPS, developed by our team, was used on the UH 2.2-m telescope at Mauna Kea. We show observed results and discuss the circumstellar structure of T Tauri stars based on the measured polarization.
